The Amazing Randy Judkins!

     Last week our school was lucky enough to experience the amazing talents and entertainment of MASTER clown, juggler, and EDUtainer, Randy Judkins! I am still pouting about the fact that he was here while I was away, but my hope is that he will come grace us with his presence and talents very, very soon!

     Randy is an established entertainer who does great work in schools dealing with real issues involving team work, stress, friendships, and much more! He made a huge impression with our students and you can see why from our photos!

Our School Garden!

We have been working on our school garden for a couple of weeks now and this past Earth day we finally planted our first crop... potatoes! It is an exciting project and I am completely grateful to Kathie Iannicelli for getting and keeping this project going! The kids have been hard at work getting sea weed and compost, turning over the soil, shaking it out for weeds and rocks, and continuously watering their seedlings. It is exciting to invest so much time into such a worthwhile project. We are going to be eating some yummy french fries come late August!

Andy Goldsworthy Inspired Art!

You know how the old saying goes, "When the cat is away, the mice will play!" and play my little mice did! Donna subbed for me this past week and being the creative and awesome ed. tech she is, took the kids on an adventure hike to pebble beach in hopes to create beautiful art work inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy. We have his book "A Collaboration with Nature" and it is just beautiful and CREATIVE work. However I think our kids could give him a run for his money...

Another Spring Birthday!

What do you do when your student is having a birthday and you (and what seems like the rest of the island) has run out of cake mix and you don't have time to make one from scratch for the very special day?

You make a "cake" out of leftover brownies from BINGO the night before and add lots of Sour Patch Kids and Lindt Truffles from Carina! The final touch are SEVEN candles and you are good to go!

What seven year old wouldn't want this to be their sugar-filled birthday cake?

I am not sure but it seems her brother was not as excited for Jorgie to turn seven! Actually I think this is his version of what a "seven year old looks like."

APRIL Bingo!

Another month, another BINGO night.

BINGO seemed so different this month. The sun was shining when people arrived, everyone had a certain "spring" in their step, and even as I closed up school at the end of the event the sun was still out!

Even though it seemed "different" all the winners of the evening were REPEAT WINNERS! Of course Billy B. won a round and Jackie and Angela both won TWO!
