Thanks to the Island Readers and Writers Program our school was lucky enough to video conference with Toni Buzzeo, author of the new book, A Lighthouse Christmas!
The program Toni offered was about how she came up with the idea for the book and what steps she took to develop that idea into a story that would be interesting as a book! She also talked about the history behind her book... which is based on the REAL story of the "Flying Santa" that delivered Christmas goodies and gifts to families of Lighthouse Keepers in Maine!
We got to conference with Toni and our friends from Cliff, Isle Au Haut, and Matinicus. I always love when we get to video conference all together because it is just one more thing that makes us feel like we are a part of this bigger school with lots of terrific students and teachers.
Millie was very relaxed during the presentation... which is a compliment to Toni on a job well done!
We got to see slides from Toni's book and talk about the differences and similarities we saw in the island she wrote about in her book and the islands we all live on!
